Graduate stories.

Have a read of these stories written by recent graduates.

Paul Barugahare: Engineering and Planning

I travelled and lived overseas a fair bit when I was growing up and then studied engineering in Canberra at ANU.

I was attracted to Vodafone because thought the telecommunications industry would be a very interesting one to work in and I thought the graduate program would be a great opportunity for personal and career development. I also was attracted to the fact that Vodafone is an international company, meaning I would have broader horizons than if I worked at a purely local company.

The culture at Vodafone is relaxed and friendly. People have been very welcoming to me in both my team and the broader organisation.

My first three months have been good as there’s so much to learn and yet I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface. Being the least qualified person on my team has been an on-going challenge, but everyone has been helping me out a lot. I am slowly getting the hang of things, and I’m feeling really positive about the rest of the year.

Ashleigh Thompson: IT Applications and Business Enablement

I graduated last year from QUT with a Bachelor of Corporate Systems Management. I was attracted to Vodafone as I aspired to work for a global company who harnessed the latest technologies which Vodafone offered. Vodafone was very attractive as the program only lasts 12 months after which you have a permanent position.

The vibe around the office is quite unique and has this “buzz”. I am constantly surrounded by this network of amazing people who are approachable and very eager to help, give advice or simply have a friendly chat. I wake up every day excited to come to work for each day presents a new opportunity for me to grow, explore and learn.

The graduate program has been a perfect start to my professional career. From the beginning I felt challenged and given everything I needed to develop. The work here is varied and fast paced and I feel like a valued member of my team and the company.
