In Australia, the Vodafone brand is operated by Vodafone Hutchison Australia Pty Limited (VHA). VHA was formerly named Hutchison 3G Australia Pty Limited (H3GA).

In June 2009, the businesses of Vodafone Australia and H3GA, which operated under the 3 brand, merged into an unlisted 50:50 joint venture operating as VHA.

VHA is 50% owned by Vodafone Group Plc and 50% owned by Hutchison Telecommunications Australia Limited (HTA). Hutchison Whampoa Limited is the majority shareholder of HTA.

As at 30 June 2012, VHA provided mobile communication services to more than 6.8 million customers in Australia.
