Vodafone's H&S policy statement

Vodafone's health & safety policy – January 2006

Vodafone as a values based organisation is passionate about people.

We are committed to achieving the highest standards in health & safety, with the aim of providing and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for employees, customers, partners, contractors, and visitors.

Vodafone believes that:

  • Injuries can be prevented;
  • Health and safety is a business imperative; and
  • Consultation and employee involvement is essential to Health & Safety performance.

Vodafone’s leadership team will ensure that appropriate resources are provided and actions are taken to implement and maintain an effective health and safety management system.

Consistent with this, Vodafone will:

  • Strive for best practice in H&S management;
  • Comply with relevant statutory obligations, codes of practice and industry standards, and where adequate laws do not exist, adopt a risk management approach, and apply standards that reflect our values;
  • Provide information, instruction, training and supervision to empower people to perform their roles in a safe manner;
  • Involve employees, customers, contractors and visitors in health and safety matters, and consult with them in ways to reduce workplace hazards and improve H&S management systems; and
  • Develop and maintain a Health & Safety Plan, Objectives and Targets that are consistent with those communicated by Vodafone Group.

Health and safety is both an individual and shared responsibility of all employees, partners and other persons involved with Vodafone operations.

We emphasise the need for everyone to:

  • adhere to safe work practices at all times;
  • employ the necessary controls to ensure a safe working environment;
  • conduct regular risk assessments of systems of work, plant, substances, and the condition of work premises, to identify hazards and eliminate or manage risk; and
  • be passionate about their own health and safety at work, and the welfare of others.

To this extent, should any employee, partner, contractor, customer, visitor or member of the public perceive any hazard and/or problem regarding health and safety at Vodafone, then it should be reported immediately. Vodafone’s leadership team can then take the necessary steps to rectify the problem.

There is no task that is so important or so urgent that it releases Vodafone, its leaders, its people or partners from the responsibility to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
