Choose which messages you want to hear first

With the Visual Voicemail application, you can see exactly who left a message and when they left it. All the info is right there on your screen. With one touch you’ll be able to jump to the most important messages first, or even skip messages completely.

It’s a simple idea that means you don’t have to listen through all your messages just to get to the ones you know you want to hear.

And because Visual Voicemail is totally in sync with your normal 121 Voicemail, your iPhone will always know exactly which messages you’ve already listened to, no matter how you access them.

How do you get Visual Voicemail?

Easy. Your iPhone will be automatically updated – whether you’re an existing or new iPhone customer. But first you’ll have to install the latest software. It’s free to download and it’s simple – here’s how:

  1. Synchronise your iPhone with iTunes
  2. Check for updates and download the latest software update
  3. Turn your iPhone off and back on

If you have any trouble, please just call the contact centre on 1555 for help.

Just look for the blue dots. You’ll find one to the left of each message you haven’t heard yet.

How do I use Visual Voicemail when I’m overseas?

Visual Voicemail should work in any country where data roaming is available, subject to the network limitations and availability of overseas networks. You can set your data roaming on your iPhone by going to:

Settings ? General ? Network ? Data ? Roaming ? ON.

To ensure your Vodafone account is set up for roaming, you can arrange International Roaming online or with one phone call to Customer Care 1555. For more information, visit the International Roaming section of this website.

What if data roaming isn’t available in the country I’m travelling to?

If data roaming is not available in the country you are travelling to, or you prefer not to use Visual Voicemail while you’re travelling, you can turn on your normal voicemail TXT alerts before you go. Dial 1218 to turn on TXT alerts. To change your alert type while you’re overseas, dial the Voicemail number (+61 414 121 121) and follow the prompts.

Alternatively, you can access your voicemail from another device by dialling your mobile number, pressing * during your greeting and following the prompts.

Please note: Roaming data services subject to network limitations and availability of overseas networks. Roaming data charges will be incurred according to your current plan. See plan for details.

Why am I sometimes prompted to dial 121 to get my voicemail even though I’ve set up Visual Voicemail?

The simple explanation is that you’re in an area with poor data coverage. The more complicated explanation is that your iPhone uses the GPRS, EDGE or 3G/HSDPA to download messages to your device, and needs to be in an area with strong coverage.

How many voice messages can I store?

You can save up to 20 voicemail messages. Each message can be between 3 seconds and 5 minutes long. All messages are saved for 7 days from the day they are listened to, any messages less than 3 seconds in length will not be recorded.

Can I save my voice messages to another part of my iPhone or save them to my PC?

Sorry, this isn’t possible yet.

Can I forward a voicemail message?

You won’t be able to forward voicemail messages using Visual Voicemail. However, you could forward messages by dialling the 121 voicemail service and follow the prompts.

Can I retrieve a voicemail message that I have deleted?

Yes, you can recover deleted messages from your iPhone until 1am the next day after you’ve deleted them. After that, they’ll be permanently removed from your handset. Before they’re removed, you can listen to them or undelete them.

How do I listen to a deleted message?

Tap Deleted Messages (at the end of your voicemail messages), then tap the message you want to hear.

How do I undelete a message?

Tap Deleted Messages (at the end of your voicemail messages), then tap a message and tap Undelete. The message returns to your messages list.

How do I delete a message permanently?

Tap Deleted Messages (at the end of your voicemail messages), then tap Clear All. The messages in your Deleted Messages list will be permanently deleted. You can also delete messages one at a time, but this will only move them to a Deleted Messages folder. And if you have 20 messages in this folder, your mailbox will still be full until you Clear All.

How do I change my Greeting?

You can change your greeting within Visual Voicemail to either the Default or Custom greeting message, by clicking on the Greeting button.

Please note: You can set either the Default or a single Custom greeting message only via your iPhone. To set an Extended Absence greeting you'll need to record it as your standard greeting. A Custom Busy greeting is not available via your iPhone.

How will I be charged for Visual Voicemail?

Visual Voicemail needs to transfer data in order to keep synchronised with the Voicemail system. The data transferred will incur charges according to your current plan. However, the following is an example of potential data transfers based on sample user data for retrieval of your voicemail messages.

The maximum voicemail message size across the average user is approx. 50kb in size.

The maximum number of voicemail messages is 20.

This means that to download a full mailbox with maximum size messages would transfer approximately 1MB of data.

NOTE: The above example is considered high usage of voice mail.
