Using your iPhone as a Personal Hotspot

The Personal Hotspot feature on your iPhone allows you to connect multiple compatible devices to the internet using the Vodafone 3G/HSDPA network. It's like having your own personal Wi-Fi network in your pocket, allowing you to remain connected when you're out and about.

Using your phone as a Personal Hotspot will increase your data usage. To cater for this, we recommended connecting a Medium Mobile Internet pack (as a minimum) to cover your browsing needs. For just $10 per month over 12 months (total minimum cost $120)1 you'll receive 2GB of data each month, allowing you to keep all your devices connected on the go, when you are away from your Wi-Fi network.

How to get a Medium Mobile Internet Pack?

  1. Simply TXT 'data' to 126612
  2. Select 'Medium Mobile Internet Pack $10/2GB' [Please note - you can select any pack you like, but if you want to use your phone as a portable Wi-Fi hotspot, we'd recommend an additional 2GB of data as a minimum.]
  3. Click 'Sign Up'
  4. You'll receive a confirmation TXT when your pack is activated and you're ready to go.

How do you monitor how much data you've used?

My Vodafone lets you to monitor your data usage so you can keep an eye on how much you have left at any time. If your account is a personal account, you can also send a blank TXT message to 1555, and we will send you your latest usage details.

What do you need to set-up a Personal Hotspot on you iPhone?

  1. An iPhone 3GS or later
  2. iOS 4.3 or later
  3. Connection to the Vodafone 3G/HSDPA network
  4. A Mac, PC, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or other compatible Wi-Fi enabled device
  5. If you're connecting using an iPhone 3GS, you can share a connection with USB or Bluetooth only. If you are connecting using an
    iPhone 4, you can share a connection using Wi-Fi, USB, or Bluetooth.
