Play Safe Guidelines
Sending Chat messages can be great fun, but for your own privacy and safety it's important to follow a few simple guidelines:
- Remember that people you meet online might not be who they say they are. Do not give out your full name, mobile number, email address, residential address any other personal details that would enable contact outside the mobile chat room. Do not give out other people’s contact details either.
- Do not ask other chatters to reveal any personal contact details.
- Choose a nickname to use as your chat room identity.
- Never arrange or agree to call or meet another chatter face-to-face.
- Be cautious of other chatters who ask too many personal questions – especially if they won't stop asking, even after you've told them not to.
- If another chatter asks things that make you uncomfortable, nervous or scared, stop communicating with them. If you’re using TXT Chat send the IGNORE command to 129 242 (129 CHA) to stop receiving Chat messages from that chatter. If you’re using live! Chat click the BLOCK link. You can report other users via the chat service or call us on 1555 (free call from your Vodafone mobile within Australia, excluding $29 Cap Contract, $20 and $30 Contract and Month to Month Plans). Be sure to include their nickname and some details of what happened.
- Remember to play nicely. It's not nice to send or receive insulting or abusive Chat messages. Friendly banter or sarcasm may come across well verbally, but it doesn't always translate into a Chat message. Be careful not to offend others. If your message is too rude it will be blocked by us.
- Do not send Chat messages containing sexual references, racist, threatening or intimidating behaviour. Breaching these rules will result in you being barred from using Chat. Harassing or threatening behaviour may also result in criminal prosecution.
- We reserve the right to block individuals from Chat at our discretion.
- Vodafone's chat services are post moderated – that means every message sent will be read and assessed by a human moderator. Any illegal messages will be escalated to the appropriate authorities.
