Here's what you'll need to get started with your BYO modem
Before you can start enjoying Vodafone Mobile Broadband these are the things you need to do:
- Check for compatibility before you buy
- Unlock your modem (please contact your current provider to arrange this)
- Ensure your modem is not reported lost or stolen
- Insert the 3G SIM card into your modem (please refer to the instructions provided with your modem)
- Change your modem settings � details below
- Prepaid only - pick up a Vodafone Mobile Broadband Prepaid Starter Kit from a Vodafone store
- Prepaid only - activate your account by following the instructions in the Prepaid Activation and Recharge Guide found in the Vodafone Mobile Broadband Prepaid SIM only Starter Kit
Modem requirements
At Vodafone we want you to have a great Mobile Broadband experience using your own modem. To help you achieve this, your modem must comply with the following requirements:
- USB connector interface
- Supports Tri-band GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900MHz
- Supports 3G UMTS 2100 & 900 MHz
- Has a 3G SIM card slot
- Be able to change the modem settings in the modem's connection manager software
Connection software and modem settings
In your modem's connection manager software there are settings that need to be changed so you can use your modem on our network. Please update your current settings to:
Contract
- Profile name: VF Mobile Broadband
- APN: static & "vfinternet.au"
- Authentication Access Number: *99#
- Username: [left blank]
- Password: [left blank]
Prepaid
- Profile name: VF Prepaid Mobile Broadband
- APN: static & "vfprepaymbb"
- Authentication Access Number: *99#
- Username: [left blank]
- Password: [left blank]
