Data roaming is when you connect to an international data network (including any other Vodafone network) via your Vodafone Australia SIM card. To roam, you need to set your phone to automatically detect other compatible networks.
When you arrive in another country and switch on your phone, it will offer the available data networks as a list on your phone's screen. You simply select which one you'd like to use. You can only connect to networks that Vodafone has an international roaming agreement with.
Once the connection is complete, you'll be able to use that network, which means you can almost seamlessly continue to make calls and use mobile data in the places where you travel.
When roaming, the cost for using mobile data can be considerably more expensive than Vodafone Australia's normal domestic mobile data rates. This is because your usage will be charged through the international carriers' networks. Vodafone has no control over the cost of data from another carrier, except for those with which we have special agreements in our preferred networks.
To manage your roaming costs, be sure to check the rates for each country you are visiting before you travel. If you intend to use data roaming, we recommend that you consider a Roaming Data Bundle.
These days, you can't afford to be without your phone. But could you afford to replace or repair it if you lose or damage it?
