Vodafone Mobile Coverage in Australia

One in every four mobile users on the planet is connected with Vodafone. That's a lot of mobiles and a lot of mobile experience. We were part of the original team that developed GSM technology (now used by 860 networks in 220 countries and regions). Our experience and expertise goes along way in Australia too.

Currently, the Vodafone Australia Network, made up of GSM (voice), GPRS (data) and our faster 3G (voice and data) network, covers 99.53% of Australia's metro areas. And, with National Roaming activated, we cover 94.52% of the entire Australian population. Our 3G network covers 94% of the Australian population.*

But our coverage isn't just about coverage, it's about quality coverage. What we learn around the world, we apply here at home, to give you better coverage and better service, which just keeps on getting better.

* All Vodafone services subject to device capabilities and network limitations and availability. 3G services are available in Vodafone's 3G areas - compatible device required. In metropolitan and some regional areas, Vodafone's 3G network operates on UMTS 2100Mhz. In smaller regional areas with Vodafone coverage, Vodafone's 3G network operates on UMTS 900Mhz. All 3G 900Mhz devices available from Vodafone are 2100Mhz compatible. However, not all 2100Mhz devices are 900Mhz compatible. Customers with 2100Mhz devices that are not 900Mhz compatible will experience GPRS (or Edge, where available) coverage in 3G 900Mhz areas. Slower speeds can be expected outside Vodafone's Mobile Broadband areas. Individual customer experience may vary - many factors affect access, capacity and speed. See www.vodafone.com.au/coverage for details.

Need greater coverage?

In a country the size of Australia, it's no surprise that you may experience reduced coverage in remote areas. A car kit, with a dashboard cradle and an external antenna, should improve the quality of calls in these areas, to help you stay in touch even when you're out of town.

Important: While the highest standards are applied in preparing these maps, 100% mapping accuracy cannot be guaranteed. In addition, coverage information is based on outdoor analysis and may differ when indoors. 3G services are subject to network limitations and availability. There may also be a number of factors beyond Vodafone's reasonable control that could cause coverage to vary within a stated area. For example, the age and type of handset, local weather conditions or areas of variable reception (e.g. basements, lifts, underground car parks, large concrete buildings, or road cuttings) may mean reception is unavailable or subject to interruption.
