Products including charging case were tested under controlled laboratory conditions, and have a rating of IP54 (AirPods 4, AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation) and IP57 (AirPods Pro 3) under IEC standard 60529. Dust, sweat and water resistance are not permanent conditions, and resistance might decrease as a result of normal wear.
