Max Speed Data Allowance explained

Once you've used your Max Speed data allowance, you can continue to use data at speeds of up to 2Mbps or 10Mbps depending on your chosen plan. Unlimited Max Speed Data plans come with unlimited Max Speed Data in Australia.

Max Speed

Max Speed is the fastest speed that our network can deliver to your phone at the time and place you're using data. You can share Max Speed Data with other Business First plans. Unlimited Max Speed Data plans do not share data with other plans on the same account.

Here's what you can do at speeds of 2Mbps or 10Mbps. However, these are "up to" speeds - therefore your experience will continually vary depending on many factors such as device capabilities, location, network congestion and network coverage. 2Mbps is great for browsing, social media and streaming music but is not suitable for HD video. 10Mbps is great for high definition video and video calling, but uploading large files to the web may be slow.

What you'll need to get 5G ready

5G approved device

You’ll need a compatible 5G approved device that is configured to our 5G network.

5G coverage area

You'll need to be in our 5G coverage area. You can still use your 5G approved device in 4G areas.

To connect to our 5G network you'll need to sign up to any of our current plans.

• $5 Roaming allows you to tap into your plan inclusions - text, data and calls - allowing you to stay connected and be productive while minimising the chances of getting stung with a nasty bill while you are out of the country.
• $5 Roaming includes standard national minutes, when calling standard numbers within the foreign destination or calling home.
• It also means you can keep your phone number when you travel - handy if you don't want to miss out on any calls or text messages.

More on $5 International Roaming

If you are on a Business First or Government First plan, pay $5 extra per day (per service that is roaming) to use your plan inclusions in $5 Roaming destinations. Additional Roaming Data will be charged at $5/GB ($0.005/MB) if you use all your included Max Speed Data Allowance. Additional Roaming Data is shareable with other plans on the same account (excluding any plans with Unlimited Max Speed Data), expires at the end of your next billing period and can only be used in $5 Roaming destinations. You’ll only be charged for the days you make or receive a call, send a text or use your data overseas. The destinations where you can use $5 Roaming may vary, so check our current destinations above before you travel. You can use $5 Roaming for up to 90 days per calendar year.

Pay As You Go roaming

Pay As You Go roaming rates will apply:

• If you’re travelling to a destination where $5 Roaming isn’t available.
• If you have turned off $5 Roaming.

The rates for Business First plans’ Pay As You Go roaming are:

• $1 per 60 seconds to make and receive calls.
• $0.75 per standard text message sent (up to 160 characters), per recipient. No charge to receive SMS.
• $0.75 per MMS message sent, per recipient. No charge to receive MMS.
• $1 per MB data.

Pay As You Go roaming isn’t included in your plan and will incur extra charges on your bill.

In-Flight Roaming

With In-Flight Roaming, if you’re on an eligible mobile voice or mobile broadband plan, you can use your plan’s included data (excluding speed-capped data), calls and texts on selected flights with participating international airlines such as Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Lufthansa, Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines for $5 extra a day when you use $5 Roaming.

Selected aircraft of these airlines are equipped with mobile in-flight equipment that has been specifically manufactured and tested so passengers can safely use mobile phones onboard.

How to access In-Flight Roaming:

Toggle on roaming: Prior to departure, ensure that roaming is active for the relevant service by contacting your account admin who can check via the self-service portal. (Note that roaming is “on” by default when your mobile service is activated.)

Switch on your phone: Once the plane has reached 20,000 ft and the pilot has activated In-Flight Roaming, switch on your device or toggle-off flight mode. You won’t access roaming if you keep your device turned off or on flight mode.

Enjoy In-Flight Roaming: Use your plan’s included data, calls and texts while on your flight. Excludes data capped at speeds of up to 2Mbps or 10Mbps. If you go over your included data allowance, we’ll automatically add 1GB for $5.

What are the participating airlines?

The participating airlines are Aer Lingus, Air Belgium, Asiana Airlines, Bangladesh Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Egyptair, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Eva Air, Airyways, Kuwait Airways, Lufthansa, Malaysia Airlines, SAS, Singapore Airlines, Swiss, Air Portugal, Turkish Airlines and Uzbekistan Airways.

These airlines may vary, so check our list before you travel.

How do I de-activate In-Flight Roaming?

If you’d prefer not to use In-Flight Roaming, keep your phone turned off or on Flight mode. You can also de-activate roaming by contacting your account admin.

What happens if I land in a $5 Roaming eligible destination?

If you used In-Flight Roaming during your flight and you landed within 24 hours, you can continue to use $5 Roaming without paying an additional $5. In-flight roaming and $5 Roaming are valid for 24 hours.

If you continue to use your included data, calls and texts after 24 hours from when you first used $5 Roaming, then you’ll be charged another $5.

What happens if I land in a Pay As You Go destination?

If you use data, calls and texts you’ll be charged at our Pay-As-You-Go rates.

Our Business First mobile plans allow you to keep in touch with your overseas customers, suppliers and staff in selected destinations.

• Our mobile plans come with an allowance of  standard international calls from Australia to ‘Zone 1’ destinations.
• Plus, up to 300 minutes from Australia to ‘Zone 2’ destinations, so you can call from Australia to colleagues, clients and suppliers in selected destinations overseas.
• Furthermore, maximise your inclusions on some of our plans, and share your international minutes with other services on the same account on our Business First or Government First plans (any unlimited inclusions do not share).

Pay As You Go - International Calls

Here are our Pay As You Go rates if you have run out of your included International Call minutes or you want to call a destination that’s not part of your plan’s included minutes.

Zone 1 destinations

Our plans have an amount of included minutes to Zone 1 destinations – some of our plans come with unlimited standard calls to Zone 1 destinations listed above.

Zone 2 destinations

Some of our Business First plans come with a number of included minutes for calling standard international numbers to Zone 2 destinations.

These destinations may change from time to time, so it’s important to check that your chosen destination is included before making a call.

Pay As You Go rates

Pay As You Go rates apply. They will be charged on top of your minimum monthly spend if you:

• Exhaust your allowance of standard international minutes to destinations in Zone 1 or Zone 2.
• Make a call to a destination that’s not included in Zone 1 or Zone 2.

A connection fee of $0.28 applies to our Pay As You Go rates shown here. These rates are subject to change.

International video calling rates are charged at up to 1.5 times the international calling rates. There is also a connection fee of $0.27 on a mobile phone and a connection fee of $0.35 for mobile broadband.

Business First plans
Approved customers with an ABN/ACN only. Inclusions are for use in Australia unless specified, and do not rollover. Not for commercial or resale purposes.

Data
No excess data charges in Australia. Business First Plans have an included data allowance (which is data at the fastest speed the Vodafone network can deliver to you, depending on your device and the time and place you are using data) which will be used first; thereafter data is available at speeds of up to 2Mbps until your next billing month. With 2Mbps you can check your socials, browse the web and stream music but is not suitable for HD video. For more information, check out our speed guide. Tethering is permitted from your mobile phone to your other personal devices only, but must not be used in a modem or as a substitute for a fixed internet service. Heavy data users may experience slower speeds than other users during busy periods. Actual speeds you reach will continually vary depending on many factors such as device capabilities, location, network congestion, network coverage, if you are roaming and if you are a heavy data user. Fair Use Policy applies.

International Minutes
Zone 1 and Zone 2 Destinations may change, see international calls for list of current Destinations. Calls charged in one minute increments. Excludes non-standard calls and video calls. Sharing: Zone 1 and Zone 2 included minute allowances will share with other Business First plans on the same account. Unlimited Zone 1 inclusions do not share with other plans.

If you exhaust your Zone 1 or Zone 2 minute allowance or you make a call to a destination outside the Zone 1 or 2 included Destinations, you will be charged on top of your minimum monthly spend at our standard international Pay-As-You-Go rates. $5 Roaming
Eligible Roaming Destinations are subject to change, see current list and full details. $5 Daily Charge is in addition to minimum monthly spend and allows you to use your plan’s inclusions in Eligible Destinations for $5 per day. Your shared included data allowance can be used while $5 Roaming. Once your data allowance is exhausted, additional data will be automatically added at a charge of $5 per GB ($0.0049/MB) (“Additional Roaming Data”). This Additional Roaming Data does not share with other connections on the same account, expires at the end of your next billing period and can only be used while in Eligible Roaming Destinations. Max 90 days of use in any calendar year. Opt-out at any time, through SwiftServe or contact your account manager. All roaming services subject to network availability.
