Vodafone celebrates Chinese New Year with free calls for postpaid customers to China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam

To ring in the Year of the Sheep, Vodafone today announced it will offer postpaid customers free calls to China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam over the Chinese New Year period.

Vodafone’s Chinese New Year calling celebration commences on 19 February 2015 and runs for four days.

Chief Marketing Officer Loo Fun Chee said that the company recognised that the ringing in of a new year meant people wanted the chance to truly connect, rather than just making a quick call.

“Chinese New Year is a celebration of family. It’s a very special time of year when people long to be close to their loved ones. We want to help our customers celebrate the festive season by making it easier for them to connect with their families,” said Ms Chee.

“By waiving the costs of international calls during Chinese New Year, customers will not have to think twice about the cost of phone calls to parents, siblings and the extended family. “

Vodafone Red plans built for international community

Vodafone has led the way to serve the mobile communication needs of Australia’s international community, taking steps to making roaming and international calls simpler and more affordable.

“Vodafone is truly a global company, which gives us the ability to serve the needs of the international community. This is reflected in the value we offer our customers with $5-a-day roaming and the 300 international minutes we offer in all Red plans,” said Ms Chee.

More than 40 per cent of Vodafone’s customers were born overseas. Last month more than 16 million international calls were made overseas on the Vodafone network.

“We’ve made keeping in touch, wherever you are, seamless and easy for our customers. Looking at the sheer volumes of calls going across the Vodafone network, it’s clear we’ve given them the confidence to use their phones the way they want to,” added Ms Chee.

“We feel really confident about our ability to deliver the value our customers really need. Our customer surveys on $5-a-day roaming and the international minutes we offer in all Red plans show that there’s very high satisfaction.

Vodafone’s Chinese New Year’s calling celebration runs from 12am 19 February to 11:59pm 22 February 2015.
