Update on Vodafone operations – 23 March, 2020 – 7pm
Retail store closures, boosting call centre resources
Vodafone is closely monitoring the rapidly evolving situation and responding quickly to keep our customers as connected as possible, while helping to protect public health.
We have today closed eight of our retail stores in Sydney to redeploy employees to customer care lines, and one store as a precautionary measure.
BONDI JUNCTION STORE
Our store on Level 1 at Westfield Bondi Junction was immediately closed earlier today as a precautionary measure after we were advised an employee has had close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case.
The employee is not feeling unwell but is self-isolating as they wait for further medical advice.
As a precaution, all other employees at the store are self-isolating and the store is undergoing intensive cleaning.
Our second Bondi Junction store on Level 5 remains open.
BOOSTING RESOURCES TO TAKE CUSTOMER CALLS
To better support our customers at this time, we have temporarily closed eight retail stores to redeploy employees from those stores to contact centre roles.
We have also started hiring a number of additional employees in our Hobart contact centre to provide additional on-shore capacity.
These measures are to help address higher than normal call volumes and reduced agent availability at our centres in India.
Stores which have temporarily closed today are: Pitt Street Mall, QVB, North Sydney, Chatswood, North Ryde, Manly, Castle Hill and Ultimo.
Our airport stores also remain closed until further notice.
STAYING IN TOUCH
To prioritise customers who need our help the most, we’re asking customers not to call us or visit a retail store unless their enquiry is urgent and they haven’t been able to resolve it via self-service.
Wherever possible, customers should use the My Vodafone app or our support pages to resolve their enquiries.
Where stores remain open, we are strictly enforcing the Federal Government’s mandatory social distancing rules and have increased hygiene measures and cleaning in place.
Our retail employees cannot assist anyone who is unwell or has been overseas in the past 14 days.
