Vodafone extends 4G mobile coverage through Yolla
Providing more coverage and choice to Tasmanians
Friday, 29 June 2018 – Vodafone and the Minister for Regional Communications, Bridget McKenzie, today announced the switch-on of a new mobile tower near Yolla, in Tasmania’s north-west, which has added more than 250 square kilometres of 4G coverage to the area.
The completion of the tower marks the first time Yolla and neighbouring communities including Elliot, West Ridgley and Tewkesbury have access to Vodafone’s 4G mobile network. The tower also extends the 4G coverage footprint along part of the Murchison Highway, south of Takone.
In conjunction with Vodafone’s Mobile Black Spot Program site in nearby Takone, and Vodafone’s existing 4G footprint in Wynyard and Burnie, the new tower provides local customers and travellers with continuous 4G mobile coverage between Wynyard and Takone, and along the Ridgley Highway between Burnie and areas south of Hampshire.
Vodafone Regional Manager, Kevin Biles, said the company’s new mobile site near Yolla is a part of its continued commitment to provide advanced mobile services, and more choice and competition to Australians living in suburban and regional areas.

Minister for Regional Communications, Bridget McKenzie said the delivery of Vodafone’s new mobile tower is a welcome addition for the communities around Yolla and another significant step towards diminishing coverage gaps in Tasmania.
