Thursday, 30 January 2025 – Vodafone has doubled its mobile coverage across Australia, boosting its mobile reach to more than 1,000,000 square kilometres, and bringing greater choice and mobile performance to thousands of holiday hotspots and regional destinations.
Available immediately and at no extra charge for all Vodafone customers, the network expansion increases Vodafone’s network reach from around 400,000 square kilometres to more than 1,000,000 square kilometres. It will boost Vodafone’s coverage to 98.4 per cent of Australians, and deliver muchneeded mobile choice and competition into regional Australia.
“We have doubled the coverage of our mobile network so people right across Australia – from Cronulla to Cunnamulla - can get access to the awardwinning value, innovation and service that Vodafone customers in the city enjoy every day,” said Kieren Cooney, Vodafone Group Executive, Consumer, Data and Analytics.
“With Vodafone expanding across Australia, the days of having limited mobile choice in regional Australia are over. We believe this is the biggest boost to mobile competition in 30 years and will make a huge difference to how Vodafone customers connect, work, travel and play right across the country.”
Vodafone’s expanded network means tourists and regional communities will have more choice when it comes to seeking great value mobile deals, with thousands of destinations set to be served by the new coverage.
“Up and down the North and South Coasts of New South Wales, to Bundaberg in Queensland,
Busselton in Western Australia, and thousands of other towns and suburbs stretched across this land – we are supercharging our network so Australians can get better coverage where they need it,” Mr Cooney said.
The expansion of Vodafone’s mobile network will result in significant coverage increases across Australia for Vodafone customers. For example, Queensland will see its network coverage increase by more than four times, while coverage in South Australia will more than triple.
