18 August 2025:Vodafone has launched its fastest modem ever, designed to solve a problem impacting many Australians: Wi-Fi that doesn’t work where you need it.
New research from Vodafone has found 58% of Australians believe their internet provider should ensure strong Wi-Fi throughout the house. Yet many households still face weak signals and dead zones, often spending their own money on extra equipment which doesn’t solve the problem.
Australia’s homes are getting bigger, averaging over 229 square metres, and with faster nbn speeds rolling out on high-speed plans from September, outdated equipment will face even greater pressure.
Vodafone’s new Super Wi-Fi solution, included with eligible nbn and 5G home internet plans when customers stay connected, is built to meet this challenge head-on.
“We’ve seen too many customers with great internet plans but poor Wi-Fi performance,” said Andrew O'Connor, GM Fixed Line Product.
“Super Wi-Fi changes that by combining cutting-edge hardware with smart mesh technology to deliver consistent coverage across the whole home.”
Smart mesh technology is the foundation of Vodafone’s Super Wi-Fi experience. Together the Super Wi-Fi Modem and Mesh units create a seamless network to cover every corner of the home.
Unlike traditional Wi-Fi extenders, mesh units work together to maintain strong signal, reduce interference and ensure a reliable Wi-Fi experience that adapts to how and where Aussies use their devices. The system is scalable, allowing customers to easily expand coverage by adding mesh units as needed.
Poor Placement = Poor Performance
In many Australian homes the modem ends up in a spot that suits the network connection but not necessarily where people use the internet. Whether it’s tucked away in a garage or out of sight on a windowsill, these locations are often far from where people need strong Wi-Fi like living rooms or home offices.
Rewiring or installing new outlets isn’t always an option, particularly for the 2.9 million Aussie households who rent, making it even harder to get reliable Wi-Fi throughout the home.
Vodafone’s Super Wi-Fi experience for every room
Vodafone’s new Super Wi-Fi Modem and Mesh devices, combined with a high-speed plan, blanket the home in high-speed, reliable connectivity.
Behind the scenes, Vodafone’s new cloud platform analyses network data to proactively identify and resolve performance issues, improving customer experience without lifting a finger.
These devices were co-developed with Arcadyan Technology Corporation, marking Vodafone’s first custom-built device tailored specifically for Australian homes.
To celebrate the launch, new Vodafone Home Internet customers can enjoy:
Vodafone NBN and 5G Home Wireless plans include the Super Wi-Fi Modem and one Mesh unit at no extra cost when customers stay connected with Vodafone over 24 months (NBN) or 36 months (5G). The maximum NBN modem cost is $336, and a modem non-return fee may apply on 5G. Customers can add additional mesh units to their monthly service from $4/month over 36 months (5G) or $6/month over 24 months (NBN).
The perfect time to switch
From September, the nbn will deliver major wholesale speed boosts for highspeed plans. With Vodafone’s new Super Wi-Fi Modem and Mesh supporting the latest Wi-Fi 7 standard, customers can enjoy those faster speeds in every room.
Customers who pair Vodafone nbn with an eligible Vodafone mobile plan can unlock even more value with a speed upgrade that will deliver up to ten times the download speeds of their original plan, at no extra cost.
For example, a customer on Vodafone’s $89 Essential+ nbn plan (50/17 Mbps typical evening speeds 7-11pm) with an eligible Vodafone mobile service would:
