Important decisions are about to be made for mobile services in regional Australia that may affect the cost, quality of coverage, and choice of provider. One of these decisions could free up millions of dollars each year for improved mobile coverage and the other could further improve coverage and bring you a choice of mobile providers.

Now is the time to tell your local MP you want the talking to end and action to happen. To make your voice heard, use the form below and email your local MP. You can add your own story to tell your MP how important mobile coverage and affordability is to you.

This is a critical time for the future of mobile telecommunications in Australia. There is an urgent need for better mobile coverage and competition to create jobs, drive growth and improve community connectivity and access to emergency services.

Reforms to the Universal Service Obligation (USO) scheme could free up funds for improved mobile coverage, rather than maintaining outdated copper wiring and payphones. Regulators will soon also determine whether to allow domestic mobile roaming, which would mean all mobile users could access a wider range of services and improved regional and rural mobile coverage at lower costs, as regional mobile infrastructure would be shared between all telecommunications providers.

If you are tired of paying too much for unreliable mobile services, tell your local MP it’s time they took action and fought to get a better deal for you.
