BlackBerry on Vodafone.

BlackBerry services are available on Vodafone in two ways. One is ‘BIS’, or BlackBerry Internet Solution, which is for individuals and small businesses of up to 10 users. The other is ‘BES’, or BlackBerry Enterprise Solution, which suits bigger business.

If you’re using a BlackBerry device running BlackBerry OS 10 or Android, you no longer need BIS or BES to be provisioned on your account. These devices use standard internet data in the same way as other smart phones.

BlackBerry Internet Service

  1. BIS can connect up to 10 Exchange/IMAP/POP3 email accounts

BlackBerry Enterprise Server

  1. BES works by setting up a server that connects to the company’s email server
  2. The company server can be Microsoft Exchange, Novel Group wise or Lotus Domino
  3. When an email is sent to a connected account, the BlackBerry server encrypts it before sending it to the phone, via the Vodafone network
  4. BES allows wireless syncing for email, calendar, tasks, and memos
  5. When an email or memo is received, the phone decrypts the message so you can read it
