Is there a charge for using caller ID?

There’s no cost to use caller ID and it’s free to turn it off or on.

Will disabling caller ID also hide my number when I send an SMS?

No. If you have caller ID disabled and you send an SMS, the recipient will still be able to see your number. Disabling caller ID only hides your number when making calls.
