 What does restoring the factory settings do to your device?

By restoring to factory settings, your device will revert to the original state when it was brand new. All your contacts, photos, apps, and anything else saved to the device as well as any software updates you installed will be deleted. It’s extremely important to always backup your device before restoring it to factory settings.

You should always restore your device to factory settings if you're giving or selling it to someone else, if you're trading it or having it repaired or recycled. You may also choose to restore factory settings if your device isn't working and the restoration of factory settings may fix the issue.
