How can we help?

Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred

Ongoing power outages from the impacts of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred are continuing to cause some minor network disruptions in Southeast Queensland.

More than 220 sites have been restored to full connectivity, however, ongoing power and access issues are impacting ten sites in Queensland.

These ten sites are located in Cleveland, Lytton, Mudgeeraba, Ashmore, Surfer’s Paradise, Burleigh Waters, Elanora and Reedy Creek.

While there is overlapping coverage for these impacted sites, some customers might experience a reduction in service quality while we continue to restore full network connectivity in these areas.

We are sorry for the inconvenience and thank customers for their patience.

Our priority is to help keep our customers and communities connected.

We have taken proactive steps to safeguard the resilience of our network and are ready to provide support where we can.

We’re closely monitoring the situation, and our technicians are already on the ground, prepared to respond to any network disruptions as effectively as possible.

We encourage communities and customers to have a plan to stay connected, which includes having phones charged, saving emergency contact details and knowing evacuation routes.

How to stay connected

Here are our top three tips to help you stay connected:

  • Power up. Make sure your mobile devices and portable battery packs are fully charged so you can access information and call emergency services. If you live in a remote area, consider a generator for long-lasting backup power.
  • Listen up. Stay alert to updates and news for your affected area. The ABC, Australia’s national emergency broadcaster, provides critical information. A battery-powered radio is a great backup if mobile or internet services are disrupted.
  • Back-up. Upload important documents and personal records – including identification, insurance and financial records – in the cloud, on an external hard drive, or print them and keep them with you.

Stay up to date

Track the news

Stay informed through local news reports in your area, as well as official social media accounts.

Monitor the weather

Check the Bureau of Meteorology for near real-time weather warnings and updates.

Watch for alerts

Find emergency contacts in your area to keep track of their warnings and advice.
