Your journey starts here.

To start this custom guide, tell us if you have a new service, or if you’ve upgraded.

Are you sharing your plan’s data?

Share your plan’s data with up to 9 other services to create one pool of data.

Welcome to Vodafone.

Thanks for joining us. We’ll take you step-by-step through the set up process. Plus we’ll give you some handy tips, and info about order tracking.

Make sure you’re at a computer, with your SIMs and devices close by. You should be ready to go in 5 to 15 minutes.

Waiting on a delivery?

Otherwise, let's get started.

About sharing your plan’s data.

You can share your plan’s data with up to 9 other services on your account. If one of your shared services goes over the monthly data allowance, we’ll automatically add 1GB for $10, which also will be shared.

Managing your account.

Alerts.

To help you stay in control, we’ll send all of the devices setup for sharing an alert when 50%, 85% and 100% of the total inclusions have been used.

My Vodafone.

You’ll be able to see your usage on your device using our online My Vodafone service. You can also see the combined total usage for all of the devices set up for sharing.

PIN.

The Primary Account holder has access to the account PIN. When you’re in My Vodafone, this PIN will let you see the usage for each device setup for sharing. It also lets you buy Add-ons and make changes to the account, so keep it secure.

Let's match your SIM with your device.

Vodafone Shared SIM cards

Your SIMs are labelled either “Phone” or “Data”. It’s important that the SIM labelled “Phone” only goes into your phone, and the SIM labelled “Data” only goes into a tablet or mobile broadband device.

If you were set up for sharing in store, you might have written down the name and number on the sleeve your SIM card came in. This number can be changed if you choose to keep your existing number.

Now let's set up your devices.

You’ll need to do a separate setup for each sharable device. Come back to this page to start the process for each device.

Welcome to Vodafone.

Thanks for joining us. We’ll help you get up and running with some handy tips, order tracking, plus info on how to back up your old phone and port your number.

Please make sure you’ve got your phone and SIM with you, and access to a computer. You should be ready to go in around 5 to 15 minutes.

Let’s get started.

How are you joining us today?

Do you need to port your number?

Porting lets you move your current phone number over to Vodafone instead of getting a new number. If you’ve already requested to port your number in store or over the phone, please select ‘no’.

Let’s get you ported.

Have your SIM ready, give us a call on 1300 101 606 (free call from a Vodafone mobile) and ask to port your phone number.

We can port your number during normal business hours (EST), if you request a port outside of these hours your number will transfer when business hours begin again. There’s no need to disconnect your old service either; it will happen automatically.

Once you’ve made the call, that’s it. You’ll be up and running in around 3 hours.

You’ve joined the network that never settles.

Our 4G network is our best ever, and now covers over 22 million Australians. Our 4G coverage is available in all major metropolitan locations and selected regional areas across Australia. You can use our coverage checker to see the coverage in your area and to check if your device is 4G compatible.

What to expect on your bill.

Your first Vodafone bill will include the access fee for your first month.

If you’d like to know more about the layout of a Vodafone bill, how we calculate your charges or what to do if you find an unexpected cost on your bill, check out our Bill Explainer.

Here are a few handy tips to help save you going over on your plan.

Keep an eye on your app usage.

The apps on your phone often download, update, and receive notifications – even when you’re not using them. Here’s how you can get a better idea of each app’s data usage in your phone’s menu.

Android:  Go to ‘Settings’ then click ‘Data Usage

iPhone:  Go to ‘Settings’ then select ‘Cellular’ or ‘Mobile’ then scroll down

Windows Phone:  Go to your ‘App list’ then select ‘Data Sense’ then click ‘Usage

Watch out for HD and automatic streaming.

Some apps, like YouTube™ and Skype can use more data by automatically switching to HD when on 4G. Plus, apps such as Facebook will auto-play video in your feed. You can change this in the settings within each app.

4G is available to customers with a 4G device, and either a 4G plan or a Data Add-on applied to any plan with Vodafone Alerts or an active Vodafone Prepaid recharge. You’ll find our 4G in selected cities around Australia. Go to vodafone.com.au/coverage to find out where.

Stay on top of the Cloud.

If your phone is linked to a Cloud service (like Dropbox), it’s a good idea to turn on the ‘Wi-Fi only’ option, so big files don’t take a chunk out of your data allowance.

We all go overboard sometimes.

Luckily, if you do happen to surf through your monthly data, we’ll automatically add a full 1GB for just $10 extra.

All ported?

If you can’t see reception bars on your old phone, it means your number should be successfully ported.

You can now insert your new SIM into the phone you want to use. Check your phone’s instruction manual to make sure you’re successfully set up.

Stay on top of the Cloud.

If your phone is linked to a Cloud service (like Dropbox), it’s a good idea to turn on the ‘Wi-Fi only’ option, so big files don’t take a chunk out of your data allowance.

Say hello to your new plan.

Now, let’s get you up and running with some handy tips, order tracking, plus info on how to back up your old phone and swap your SIM.

Please make sure you have your phone and SIM with you, as well as access to a computer. You should be done in around 5 to 15 minutes.

Did you get a new phone with us?

Have you already got your phone?

You’ll probably need to take out your SIM, so now’s the time to switch to a laptop, desktop or tablet.

Live more internet.

You’re probably on top of this already, but just in case, here are some tips to help save you going over on your plan.

Your first sync should be on Wi-Fi

Do your first sync on Wi-Fi.

Your new phone will automatically seek out the latest app and OS updates when you first switch it on, so it’s a good idea to set it up over Wi-Fi to save your data.

Keep an eye on your app usage.

Vodafone 4G

Watch out for HD and automatic streaming.

Some apps, like YouTube™ and Skype can use more data by automatically switching to HD when on 4G. Plus, apps such as Facebook will auto-play video in your feed. You can change this in the settings within each app.

4G is available to customers with a 4G device, and either a 4G plan or a Data Add-on applied to any plan with Vodafone Alerts or an active Vodafone Prepaid recharge. You’ll find our 4G in selected cities around Australia. Go to vodafone.com.au/coverage to find out where.

Cloud

Stay on top of the Cloud.

If your phone is linked to a Cloud service (like Dropbox), it’s a good idea to turn on the ‘Wi-Fi only’ option, so big files don’t take a chunk out of your data allowance.
